Lois Hole was Alberta's 15th Lieutenant Governor and only the second woman to hold this position. An avid supporter of libraries and of the contribution they make to learning, literacy, personal development and recreation in Alberta's communities, she had frequently urged people to make donations to libraries on behalf of friends, family and loved ones.

Inspired by her commitment, Alberta's library community obtained her patronage and permission to name this program in her honour.

From her spirit and passion come this invitation to honour someone you know through a program to help build and strengthen some of Alberta's most important educational and cultural resources.
